Request for hardship case
Please note that a hardship request does not apply to international applicants. You also submit a request for hardship case in the application via HISinOne. The request for hardship case will only be considered, if you submit it in the correct form and time within your application. Here (in German) you will find more information about the reasons that are admissible for a hardship case, please use this information to evaluate your personal situation.
Approbation Compliance
The M.Sc. Psychology is a general Master's program in psychology and does not contain clinical modules. Therefore, it is not licensure-compliant and does not qualify students for the licence for Psychotherapist (in Germany; Approbationsprüfung). Therefore, students with a bachelor's degree in Psychology, that meets all the admission requirements, are eligible for the M.Sc. Psychology program. The Bachelor's program does not have to be approbation-compliant and professionally recognized.
Postgraduate modules
To be admitted to the Master's program, all admission requirements must be met by the end of the application period. Extra modules for postgraduate training are not offered at the Department of Psychology.
Mastertest
The Institute of Psychology in Freiburg does not offer a master test. For the application for the M.Sc. Psychology, only the admission requirements of the selection regulations, also described on these websites, apply - a Master's test is not part of the requirements.
Application for several Master's programs
You can apply for up to three admission-restricted Master's programs at the University of Freiburg. The selection procedures of the two Master's programs, M.Sc. Psychology: Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy and M.Sc. Psychology are independent of each other, so there is no prioritization.
Application of international students
The same deadlines and admission requirements apply to all applicants, including international students. The application always takes place via the application portal HISinOne of the University of Freiburg.
Languages in the program
The languages of instruction for the M.Sc. Psychology are German and English. The required language levels can be found in the admission requirements. Information on the language of instruction for each module can be found in the module handbook.
Result of the last selection procedure
The Numerus Clausus (NC) corresponds to the average Bachelorgrade of the last person admitted in the selection procedure. Therefore, it has very limited predictive power for future selection procedures, especially as this Master program was offered for the first time in winter semester 23/24.

Härtefallantrag
Einen Härtefallantrag stellen Sie ebenfalls im Zulassungsantrag über HISinOne. Der Härtefallantrag wird nur berücksichtigt, wenn er innerhalb Ihres Zulassungsantrages form- und fristgerecht abgegeben wurde. Bitte beachten Sie, dass ein Härtefallantrag nicht für internationale Bewerbende gilt. Approbationskonformität
Der M.Sc. Psychology ist ein allgemeiner Masterstudiengang in Psychologie und enthält keine klinischen Inhalte. Daher ist er nicht approbationkonform und qualifiziert nicht zur Approbationsprüfung zum Psychotherapeuten/zur Psychotherapeutin. Zum M.Sc. Psychology kann daher mit einem Bachelor in Psychologie zugelassen werden, der alle Zugangsvoraussetzungen erfüllt. Er muss nicht zusätzlich approbationskonform und berufsrechtlich anerkannt sein.
Module zur Nachschulung
Für die Zulassung zum Masterstudiengang müssen alle Zugangsvoraussetzungen zum Ende der Bewerbungsfrist erfüllt sein. Zusätzliche Module zur Nachschulung werden am Institut für Psychologie nicht angeboten.
Mastertest
Das Institut für Psychologie in Freiburg bietet keinen Mastertest an. Für die Bewerbung auf einen Studienplatz für den M.Sc. Psychology gelten allein die Voraussetzungen der Auswahlsatzung, die auf diesen Internetseiten beschrieben sind - ein Mastertest gehört dabei nicht zu den Voraussetzungen.
Bewerbung auf mehrere Masterstudiengänge
Sie können sich für bis zu drei zulassungsbeschränkte Masterstudiengänge an der Universität Freiburg bewerben. Die Auswahlverfahren der beiden Masterstudiengänge, M.Sc. Psychologie: Klinische Psychologie und Psychotherapie und M.Sc. Psychology sind voneinander unabhängig, eine Priorisierung gibt es also nicht.
Bewerbung internationale Studierende
Für alle Bewerbenden, auch internationale Studieninteressierte gelten dieselben Fristen und Zulassungsvoraussetzungen. Die Bewerbung erfolgt immer über das Bewerbungsportal HISinOne der Universität Freiburg.
Sprachen im Studiengang
Die Unterrichtssprache im M.Sc. Psychology sind Deutsch und Englisch. Die jeweils vorausgesetzten Sprachniveaus finden Sie in den Zugangsvoraussetzungen. Informationen zur Unterrichtssprache des jeweiligen Moduls finden Sie im Modulhandbuch.
Ergebnis des letzten Auswahlverfahrens
Der Numerus Clausus (NC) entspricht der Durchschnittsnote der letzten zugelassenen Person im Auswahlverfahren. Er hat also eine sehr eingeschränkte Vorhersagekraft für zukünftige Auswahlverfahren, insbesondere da der Studiengang zum WiSe 23/24 zum ersten Mal angeboten wurde.
