Research Interests

The general aim of my research is to understand how our cognitive system produces temporal experience. Specifically, I investigate how situational factors like autonomy or room atmosphere in real, and virtual, spaces affect our awareness of the flow of time. Theoretically, I analyze how the concept of “atmosphere” can be employed to bridge different disciplines like musicology, museology, environmental science, and architecture.

I am running the project together with Roland Thomaschke. We collaborate with Miriam Rueß, Hans W. Hubert, and Lorenz Orendi.

  • Time perception and temporal experience
  • Muße (Otium)
  • Atmosphere
  • Contemplative architecture
  • Time-based expectancy and multi-tasking

Curriculum Vitae

  • Since January 2017 research fellow in the collaborative research centre 1015 "Otium: Borders, Chronotopes, and Practices" on time perception in contemplative rooms
  • 2014-2017 M.Sc. in Cognitive Psychology, Learning and Working at the University of Freiburg and the National Taiwan University
  • 2011-2014 B.Sc. in Psychology at the University of Ulm
